If the children are not living with you, you are likely to be the father.
Most fathers help with the costs, in our experience. If your wife is willing, she can be our client and you can pay for all or half of it. To save the family £800*, the system has been simplified and automated. We have restricted the amount of evidence we need to gather. If we acted for you, we would need more. How it works (click here to skip this) First, so there is no doubt in your mind, we are Solicitors with the normal professional standards and guarantees. We just use modern technology. The process is simple. 1. The system gathers from your wife, in a very simple and easily understood way, information about your marriage and the children under 16, together with information on their housing, schooling and general welfare. 2. Also the identity of a witness who can confirm these details. 3. We make contact with you to confirm your agreement. 4. She sends the marriage certificate and the birth certificate(s) of the child/children, together with a copy of the Separation Agreement, (if any). 5. With the information provided, we prepare all the court documents. 6. She and the witness take the statements (affidavits) that we prepare to a Justice of the Peace or Notary Public and have them sworn. 7. These are submitted by us to the court, allowing the court to decide if all is well with the children. The court, normally, then grants a divorce. We would, generally, expect that from the time that you we receive the information and documents that we require, you will be divorced within 6 weeks. The court will, generally, issue you with the divorce papers 2 or 3 weeks after that. If you know enough, you can go ahead straight away or, if you want more information, you can have a free 10 minute consultation to talk you through the process
